start and end dates separate fields

can you have the start date and end date for rates be different fields rather than the drag and drop calendar tool (it is very inefficient)?

If I want to change a rate and have a history of the old rate I have to reselect the start date and scroll all the way to the end date. Then create a new one. I just want to "add" an end date for a new rate.
